The Comber

In a small town nestled in the heart of rural America, a young man named James Comer was raised with the core values of hard work, honesty, and integrity by his Republican parents. From a tender age, James was already making waves in his community, volunteering for political campaigns and community service projects. His dedication didn’t go unnoticed, as party leaders saw promise in the ambitious lad. After graduating at the top of his class from a prestigious university, James set his sights on a career in politics. He ran for city council and won by a landslide, quickly becoming known as a thoughtful and principled leader. Climbing the ranks of the Republican party, he eventually earned a seat in the United States House of Representatives, championing causes such as lower taxes and limited government.

Despite facing criticism from his opponents, James stood firm in his conservative beliefs and commitment to the American people. Respected by Kentuckians for his championing their rural values, he fought for the values that to advance his community. James Comer acted as a beacon of hope to all Kentuckians who lacked the Intellectual acumen to follow or understand the world of politics. But that’s not all – James is also a successful farmer, landowner, and businessman. Known for his expertise in cultivating crops and raising livestock, he’s always looking for ways to improve efficiency on his land. And as a landowner, James has his finger on the pulse of the real estate market, meticulously maintaining and developing his properties for maximum value. Not content with just farming and land ownership, James is also a savvy businessman. With investments in renewable energy, technology, and hospitality, he’s diversified his portfolio and achieved financial success. His company, James Comer Jr. Enterprises, LLC, is a testament to his strategic thinking and leadership skills. James Comer, a man of many talents, striving to make a positive impact on his community and country, one political campaign and one crop harvest at a time.

He has two innate abilities and a magical artifact which make him a gifted trickster and master manipulator, tools invaluable to any politician. Given any ordinary hand comb, he is able to create visual illusions which enable him to distort his appearance or the environment around him with just a few strokes through his hair. On occasion, The Comber will wear a monocle with the effect of making those who view him forget or misremember. However, it is The Comber’s Kentucky accent that truly sets him apart in the world of politics. His poor elocution and inadequate vocabulary make him sound uncouth and ignorant. They are merely an affectation utilized to deceive his contemporaries. By speaking in his distinctive accent, he is able to disrupt the cognitive functions of those around him, making them act as stupid as he sounds. During this period, they are more susceptible to his suggestions and less capable of critical thinking. With his monocle, a family heirloom which has been passed through the generations from chosen son to chosen son, he is able to modify the memories of any within the view of the eyepiece. The target is caused to remember, misremember, or completely forget events previously forgotten or known regardless of how recent.

His gifts granted him the ability to influence and enact productive and effective change within his purview. He did much good in his time as a community leader and young politician. His powers did not go unnoticed by some and even without his gifts, he was out maneuvered. In an ambitious bid to boost his political power, The Comber struck a deal with the sinister entity known as the “Orange Menace.” Little did he know that this pact would bind him to the villainous team of the “Deniers,” whose sole mission was to overthrow the government and manipulate the citizens. As a member of the Deniers, The Comber found himself not climbing but skipping ranks in the organization and now serves as a lieutenant under the ruthless Mr. Jymnastyc. The Deniers quickly took advantage of his abilities and eagerly pushed through legislation which benefits the Deniers, even if it goes against the best interests of the general population or even his constituents. By targeting specific individuals with his psycholinguistic manipulation, he ensured his fellow Representatives would vote in his favor, no matter the consequences. Regarding foreign affairs, he uses his abilities to influence foreign diplomats and leaders, ensuring that they make decisions that align with the Deniers’ agenda. By speaking in his Kentucky accent, he can create confusion and doubt in the minds of those he interacts with, making it easier for him to negotiate favorable terms for his organization.

The Comber:
With this politician,
what you see is not always what you get.

His current assignment has been observed to be undermining the credibility of the chief executive and distracting the public from the benefits of noble legislation. However, The Comber is coming to realize the grave mistake made in aligning himself with the Orange Menace. In order to secure The Comber’s obedience, The Orange menace provides a constant threat to The Combers community through the threat of violence by his rabid and mindless minions who obey the Menace as if The Comber, himself employed his abilities upon them. Guilt over his actions have been gaining weight increasingly upon his conscience. The stress and conflict of conscience is driving him to near insanity. His once noble intentions are slowly eroding as he struggles to find a way out of his predicament. Desperate for redemption, The Comber began sabotaging his own plans in a bid to take down the Orange Menace from within. These actions give the impression of the stupidity he has fought vigorously to defy as a Kentuckian, also costing him credibility. He is contemplating a return to Kentucky politics where he feels he may be better able to fight off the threat the Orange Menace holds over his people. He desperately holds on to the hope that one day he will be able to redeem himself and earn forgiveness of his constituents and then the world.
